Something I couldn’t resist doing the other day, with my mint mobile photography, is to see if I could turn them into pretty patterns in Repper. These 2 patterns are the winners. I know they’re not the most visually engaging and attractive patterns, they’re not even 300 DPI because the original photo cannot be 300 DPI, but somehow I love their rustic vintage je ne sais quoi.

I like to crack a joke about vintage sometimes calling them “granny style”. I’d say I love this granny style. They even remind me of St Patrick’s Day’s commercial design styles.

The big issue I have with them though is they look pretty but I have no use for them. I normally sell my Repper patterns but that’s because they are 300 DPI as the original art is something I do in Procreate with 300 DPI. These don’t even meet commercial requirements as a result. If you aren’t familiar with the world of commercial design, the norm is 300 DPI for commercial designs. Unless it is for editorial purposes but I really do not see anyone using patterns for editorial purposes. So, what to do with them?
I guess paper crafting at home is one option. Note to self: include paper crafting time in my week. Another mindful creative activity that I can engage in that, I have no doubt, will help my nervous system heal through time.
Maybe I can also add them to tiny Zazzle paper products such as scrapbook paper because these files are still big in dimensions (5000 x 5000 px) therefore printing quality should not be compromised I believe. I’m trying to keep things into perspective here as I cannot afford buying every single thing I sell just for the sake of testing product quality.
I could create little greeting cards with a little self-care message on…all as a tiny mini passion project. Not quotes because I cannot be bothered subjecting myself to the high-friction task of trademark check and obsessing. So, instead I would go for a little story, one or two paragraphs that I write with my own words. I know it may not excite some people but it does me because I find this charming and cosy.
I guess, that’s settled then! You will see both products here once they are ready.
Alex
